100 Post Anniversary and look behind the scenes

Deutsche Version siehe unten.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.“ a qoute from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe were the first words I posted on this blog on October 2nd 2010. Back then, my blog was only in German language for the first two month. Through my participation in a Social Media project at my former job I was aware that most of the blogs do not exist more then one year time and I was curious if I can overcome this – and yes I did, even if it something take hard contribution to produce stuff, there was no doubt to continue the blog. All the participation I have to dedicate my time to psotive attitude and it is always worth being affected or surrounded by it.
How does the idea came from? I always liked to write. I have written, just for my own, some short stories and lyrics as well as a former personal Website about me and skateboarding, a once made a Halfpipe Skateboard Fanzine and I published some articles on different Skateboard websites. What I really enjoy is writing long mails or letters to friends. While our generation seems to produce a massive amount of short messages, instant messages and status updates I'm a bit different and like to write more than just a few words. Once I'm into writing I'm in a flow state and get fully focused and dedicated to put my ideas on paper. Sometimes it is that intense that I forget to end sentences or adding commas and such things. However, I reached states where I play with words and sentences and create magical surprises for my friends. It was my friend Anja who encouraged me in summer 2010 to do something with writing. It was a time where I did not write lot the recent years. I was to busy with my job, skating, and focusing on my career. But I was about to leave my job and started a world trip. I never considered to write the thousands travel blog. I traveled for myself, to look deeper at my values and find my purpose. I was aware that I'm a very optimistic person and that my attitude and energy is an advantage. When I was 18 years old I had a check out in an Austrian Skateboard Mag and one of the most maturest and scholastic persons in the skateboard community introduced me with the words: “His attitude is more positive than the Backstreet Boys, Senta Berger and Peter Rapp together!” (the most positive personalities you can find in Media back then). However, this let me think about some skill I have, something to share and something to build on. I even had a job where a Director want to bring me in the organization to bring some fresh wind; she said that walking through her floors seeing boredom and sluggishness faces that she want me to change that. Some of your major tasks are not written in your job description. I did well on that and of course I caused some friction hearing thousands of times “that's not gonna work”, “we can't do that”, “how is the process” and “this is not your job”. Sorry for all who may saw me as an instance. I think that all of us can have fun and flow at work, that we all can enjoy what we have and things are great out there. I'm driven by the idea that work is fun and you won't spent 40, or 20, or 60 hours a week with something you can't enjoy. And this is the point where I wanna make a difference through my blog.
After half I year my topic attracted me even more and I think about how to make it as my main profession. Becoming a Coach is my number one goal I want to participate even more and I want to serve you with positive and inspiring content, I want to serve you with my optimism and ideas. Having my focus on all around positive attitude I was often astonished how much knowledge exists that is absolute essential for me and I had never heard before: Flow, intrinsic motivation, NLP presuppositions, being proactive, focus outcome orientated, focus on win win, asking yourself the right questions, have clear written goals, value and use of gratitude and much more.
Therefore I look really forward to continue with my blog and I really encourage participation. If any of you have ideas or interest to contribute to GreatWay-Attitude I would love to have you on bord. If you have questions about my articles or want to work and adapt them, please ask me. Since my goal is to become a coach I would love to get some first hands on experience!

And if you wanna get in touch with me you can do that via

YOUR ORGANISATION’S VISION

(German version see below / Deutsche Version siehe unten)
Most large organisations and many medium sized companies have a vision or at least a vision statement.
While conducting a brief survey asking several of my colleagues who work for medium to large organisations if they were aware of their organisation’s vision statement the reply in all cases was a yes”, however none of them could articulate or tell me what that vision was. It appears to me that the value and the strategic importance of “The Vision” is being overlooked by many large organisations as they battle for position and stability in the new global economy.
What value can be achieved from a Vision?
It is said that; “A picture speaks a thousand words” but a vision is; “the movie of a dream”. The majority if not all large organisations around the world began with an idea from an individual or a small group believing they could bring great benefit or service to other people. Most had humble beginnings but they also had a vision for the future which they promoted and developed into a brand.
People buy into brands not exclusively for the products but to be a part of the “dream”; the projected vision. Marketing has proven time and time again that people don’t buy products they buy into an organisation’s vision of how things should be.
Do you know your organisation’s vision?
Could you find out exactly what your organisation’s vision is and how the organisation came into existence, the story of its creation? Your organisation’s Vision created the success and growth you see around you today and that vision has also given you secure employment and an environment for you to grow and develop your ability.
Why not give something to your organisation as you maintain and even strengthen your position by promoting your organisation’s vision. Once that vision is continuously promoted and the organisation provides quality products and service to its customers a win-win situation will prevail. If you are passionate about the work you do and passionate about the contribution you make, why not bring a little passion to your organisation’s vision, after all you are a part of that vision.
When you have vision it affects your attitude. Your attitude is optimistic rather than pessimistic”

When you have vision it affects your attitude. Your attitude is optimistic rather than pessimistic”

You can do, just keep yourself active and record your steps (GW)

Book Review: Stephen R. Cvoey / The Seven Habits of High Effective People

Deutsche Version siehe unten.
I heared about this book quiet often and it took me a little while until I read it recently, just to ask myself why I haven't read it earlier. There are enough reasons why this is one of the most popular and successful Business and Self-Help books ever written. It is so obvious, universal and full of ideas. It is a about principles. Principles for a fulfilled living, job life, family life relationships etc. Just complete. It was first written in 1989 and Covey had the idea many years earlier when he wrote a dissertation about success literature. However, it is written in a fresh and easy to catch up way for any reader, even if you are new to those kind of literature.
In my opinion it is good if you have principles that works well for you in all situations you face. And you can share them. And it is a fantastic thing if someone like Covey who have super strong habits, someone who has is such an intensive focus on behavior, shares his principles.

Two terms that this book made famous are“proactive“ and „interdependent“. When you are proactive you are aware, you are in charge of it, you take responsibility and can choose. First you have to choose to live independent which is covered in the first three habits and then you can become interdependent which means that you can choose that you can leverage your private victory to the public and let it multiply.

The chapters include a great approach to planning and time management and even better models of how to behave to teams. “Seek first to understand than to be understood” and within that if people in a group synergize than a successful outcome can even be squared.
My favorite is the Win / Win habit. It is a principle that requires a win for both parties at the end and says: Win / win or no deal. That is an approach that there is no loser, just winners, at the end of an interaction.

If you use “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” as a fundamental principle for your business, family or any other environment you got a basis of respect, integrity, abundance, drive and love! I found a book that truly enriches me, that I wanna use and adapt. It makes me lust for better team contribution!

The good about the No in Sales

How do you feel if the customer says No or asks or brochures? - This was I question I had recently to answer in preparation of a Sales training. And I looked inside me and listened to my heart.
The second part the brochures – I was never asked that the last time cause there are so many resources online. And I was asked this question a lot a few years ago. I try to ask behind the customers intention what is he looking for and how the materials are used. Because the biggest challenge in terms of information at our time is not to get information it is to select information and this is exactly where you can serve your clients and gave him exactly what he needs.
The No question I had a good feeling, yes I feel fantastic when I hear a No. But before I have made sure that this is really a No and I have discovered if this is for all areas and there are no more niches left, nothing untold and the customer and I got us right. Cause If I hear that the client has everything he or she needs then we have a win-win-situation. I learn, grow and do a good job through every conversation and there is fulfillment at the customer side. So I'm happy, wish a nice day and move on.

Ach übrigens, weißt du eigentlich was Nein heißt? :D
