For a long time I keep saying this. It's your choice what you say about life and life will feel as you call it. Some people say “life is war”. This can make them successful, endurable and proud, but will they have joy and nice time over all the years? In German a lot of people say “Das Leben ist kein Kindergebutstag” (life is not a child's birthday) or “Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof” (life is not a pony yard). Whenever I heard this I felt pinned on, I didn't see anything that brings me forward or constructive in this. In English there is this saying “life is just a bowl of cherries” - that is nice and joyful.

As a person who always looks for action, fun and entertainment, doing something good, I might would miss something when I would be caught in the cherry-bowl. Grewing up in the early Nintendo-years, I remember playing the games “Super Mario Bros” on Nintendo Entertainment System as well as “Super Mario Land” on GameBoy, as well as some following versions. This are typical Jump and Run games, developed by Nintendo, staring Mario, an Italian Plumber who figh

against weird things happening in fantasy worlds. Wherever you are, regardless if desert, a underwater world, in the air, exotic countries or a neat neighborhood, you always keep doing. You run, play the rules, and keep moving. You have to be fast, adapt new approaches, have to be flexible, overcome bigger obstacles, stand trough, achieve next levels and succeed in it. You get stronger, have more coins or even more lives. It reflects life for me, as stronger and better you get as more indestructible your are. It is as we are defined by nature, moving, growing, find a way. Often when things got overwhelming, I imagined this, visualized a game-controller which allowed me to turn this situation around. I imagined the Super-Mario powers to finish this level and get into the next level. It is exactly what I look for: Playing the Jump and Run Game of Life; on a high score!

Das Leben ist ein „Jump and Run Game“, das sage ich schon seit einer langen Zeit. Es ist deine Entscheidung was du über das Leben sagst. Manche Menschen sagen „Leben ist Krieg“. Das kann sie sowohl erfolgreich, erträglich und stolz machen, aber haben diese Menschen auch Vergnügen und eine gute Zeit über all die Jahre? Im Deutschen sagen eine Menge Leute „Das Leben ist kein Kindergeburtstag“ oder „Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof“. Wann immer ich dies hörte fühlte ich mich fest steckend. Ich sehe nichts konstruktives darin oder nichts das mich vorwärts bringt. Im Englischen gibt es das Sprichwort „Life is just a bowl of cherries“ - das hört sich sehr nett und genießbar an.

Als eine Person die stets gutes tun möchte und dabei Action, Spaß und Unterhaltung haben möchte würde ich im Cherry-bowl etwas lebenswertes missen. Aufgewachsen in den frühen Nintendo-Zeiten, kann ich mich sehr gut darin erinnern, die Spiele „Super Mario Bros“ am Nintendo Entertainment System sowie „Super Mario Land“ am GameBoy, sowie einige der folgenden Versionen. Dabei handelt es sich um typische „Jump and Run“ Games, entwickelt von Nintendo die von Mario, einem italienischen Klemptner handeln, der gegen seltsame Dinge in Fantasiewelten kämpft. Wo immer du bist, ganz egal ob in der Wüste, einer Unterwasser-Welt, in der Luft, in exotischen Ländern, oder in einer niedlichen Nachbarschafts-Umgebung du bist stets dabei etwas zu tun. Du läufst, spielst, hältst dich an Regeln und bist in Bewegung. Du musst schnell sein, neue Ansätze anwenden, flexibel sein, stets größere Hindernisse überwinden, durchhalten, neue Level erreichen und in ihnen erfolgreich werden. Du wirst stärker, bekommst mehr Münzen oder sogar mehr Leben. Dies reflektiert das Leben für mich, je stärker und besser du wirst desto unzerstörbarer bist du. Es ist, so wie wir von Natur an bestimmt sind, bewegend, wachsend und einen Weg findend. Oftmals, wenn die Dinge im Leben den Anschein haben, überwältigend zu sein, hab ich mir das „Jump and Run Game“ visualisiert. Ich visualisierte den Spiel-Controller der es mir erlaubte eine Situation um zu drehen. Ich habe mir vorgestellt die Super-Mario Kräfte zu haben um ein Level abzuschließen und das nächste zu erreichen. Das ist genau das, was ich suche: Das „Jump and Run Game“ des Lebens zu spielen; auf einer High-Score!
